Showcase Sunday (#12)

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicki at Books, Biscuits and Tea. Its aim is to showcase our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders this week.

For Review:
I was really excited when I received this one for review earlier this week and now I'm...not. I've been reading a lot of reviews of this one, and I am quite sure that it isn't for me. With my huge workload these days, I really doubt I'll get around to reading this one, which is unfortunate as I know a lot of readers are anticipating it, but we'll see. It's not a priority though, that's for sure. :/

Bought:
Since my birthday was last week, I decided to purchase some Australian Novels that aren't available in the US. I actually received this early last week, but I'm so excited to finally have them! :)

Holier Than Thou by Laura Buzo
Laura Buzo became one of my favorite authors with her debut, Good Oil, which is releasing later this year in the US under the title, Love and Other Perishable Items. It was a beautifully written tale and I'm more than a little curious to see what Holier Than Thou, Buzo's venture into the emerging "New Adult" Genre will bring!
Queen of the Night (This is Shyness, #2) by Leanne Hall
This is Shyness was an absolutely spectacular novel, so I knew I had to get my hands on this sequel as soon as I could! I'd heard that it was better than its predecessor, and it so was! I love, love, loved it!
Night Beach by Kirsty Eagar
Kristy Eagar brought me to tears with her debut, Raw Blue, and I can't wait to read this thriller/horror novel of hers. It's received some mixed reviews, but I'm curious to see what I'll think of it.

Borrowed:

Unwholly (Unwind, #1) by Neal Shusterman
I wasn't exactly what you could call a fan of Shusterman's Unwind, but I did like it a lot, so I'm curious to see how this one compares. I've heard it's much better than its predecessor, so we shall see!
In the Woods (Dublin Murder Squad, #1) by Tana French
I've been meaning to read this book for awhile, especially after seeing all the raving reviews for the other novels in this series, so I am thrilled to finally be starting it this week! It's a creepy, chilling, murder mystery and I haven't read one of those in awhile, so I can't wait to begin this one! :)
Silver by Rhiannon Held
I've actually finished this one already and I wound up really liking it! It's an Adult Urban Fantasy which is completely unique and unlike anything I've ever read in this genre before, so it was refreshing and the werewolf lore was extremely interesting too! I'd highly recommend this one, despite its few flaws!

What new books did you get this week? Link me up!

  1. YAY, AUSSIE BOOKS! I loved all three of the ones you bought and I am sure you will, too! I cannot wait for your reviews :)

I've read pretty bad things about The Blessed too, what a shame! :(

    1. I'm so excited to start those Aussie Novels, Mandee! Nothing quite beats them, does it? ;)

Yes, it is a shame! *sigh* It had such an interesting premise too... :/

  2. I was really excited to read The Blessed like you in the beginning, but after reading mixed reviews, I decided not to read it :(

BUT YAY FOR AUSSIE BOOKS! I've only read Night Beach, it was quite gorgeous although I haven't read Holier Than Thou and Queen of the Night. I did read Laura Buzo's Good Oil which I really liked so I hope it's as good as Good Oil!

Awesome books this week, Keertana! ♥ Hope you enjoy them all and happy reading!

    1. Thanks Celine! :) I'm so excited for Night Beach and Holier Than Thou and I'm hoping it's just as good as Good Oil as well! Plus, since you liked Night Beach I'm sure I will too! It's too bad about The Blessed though...*sigh*

  3. I wasn't a big fan of The Blessed... I hope you enjoy it more if you decide to read it. I've heard great things about This is Shyness! I still need to pick up this series, but I'm looking forward to your review on the sequel. Amazing haul, Keertana! I hope you enjoy them all. :)

    1. Gosh, This is Shyness is AMAZING Sam! You'll have to pick it up soon for sure!(: I don't think I'll read The Blessed, especially after your cautionary review, but if I do read it, I hope I enjoy it more as well!

  5. Great haul, Keertana! I'm pretty sure The Blessed isn't for, either, but I'm interested in reading your review on it, if you decide to read it in the future.
These books from Australia sound so good, especially Queen of the Night.
    Enjoy your new books ^-^

    1. Thanks Beatriz!(: Queen of the Night was incredible, so I highly recommend that series for sure, and I'm so upset that The Blessed isn't something I'll be reading, but not all books are for everyone. Thanks for stopping by, Beatriz! :)

  9. YOUR BIRTHDAY?! Ahhh, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!! *rains books down on you* *did not consider the possible concussion* <3

Oh I LOVE Laura Buzo! I read Good Oil a few years ago, so when I heard she had a new book coming out.... *cue the squee* HTT was amazing! But gah, she's the queen of those brilliant, but hair pulling endings. They're REAL and I love it, but for someone like me who needs every minute detail, it can cause frustration :D

I'm ashamed to admit I haven't read a Kirsty Eagar novel. Definitely need to check out both her and Leanne Hall. Also VERY excited to read your thoughts on Unwholly and Silver! Your tease of Silver already has me anticipating a fab read :)

Enjoy your books and another incredible year of life!

    1. Aww, thank you Brodie! :)

I love Laura Buzo's Good Oil as well and I know how much you loved HTT, so I hope I like it too! I enjoy conclusive endings (obviously!), but sometimes the open endings can be so tantalizing! I hope I enjoy it though as there have been some mixed reviews.

YOU HAVEN'T? You must, Brodie! Raw Blue is SO good and Eagar (as well as Leanne Hall)'s writing is fantastic! I hope you pick up Silver as I really enjoyed it and Unwholly is another one I'm excited about.

Thank you, dearie! I'm very excited! :D

  10. It's a shame to hear about your feelings on blessed, Keertana, but at the same time, I understand with work, keeping up blogging etc and reading will be hard.

Silver is now added to my wishlist, I've been searching for something in the werewolf area that might give me more of a kick.

Thought I hadn't heard of the novels, but being Australian I probably don't get much insight to the Aussie world. Well, I hope you enjoy those! :)

    Great haul.

    1. Yup, I just don't think I can read The Blessed unfortunately. I'm glad Silver has been added to your wishlist though and Australian Books are seriously AMAZING, Olivia! You should definitely check them out! :)

  11. The Blessed looks ok... but I can understand why you wouldn't want to read it, because of reviews! If you don't plan on reading it, maybe do a giveaway for it, so someone who wants to read it can get the opportunity? Just a suggestion. ;)

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!! <3 Aussie books are definitely a great birthday gift!

I hope that you enjoy Unwholly!! I really enjoyed it, so hopefully it'll make you like the series better. I'm crossing my fingers for you. =)

Great haul Keertana! <3 Enjoy all your books!

    1. Thanks Aneeqah! Yes, the Aussie Books were an awesome gift and I'm hoping I like Unwholly as well! I don't have much motivation to pick it up just yet, but I'll get around to it for sure...eventually! ;) I doubt I'll be reading The Blessed, but perhaps a giveaway is a good idea...we'll see! :)

  12. Yay to In the Woods! *fist pump* I can't wait for our read along; the reviews have been excellent and I'm really in the mood for something creepy and brilliant at the moment. :) I have Unwholly as well, and even though many readers have claimed that it isn't quite as good as the former, I'm excited to dive into it regardless. :) I have to read some of Kristy Eager's books sometime soon too. I need some more Aussie koolaid. ;)

Nice haul and enjoy your goodies, darling! :)
