Showcase Sunday (#16)

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicki at Books, Biscuits and Tea. Its aim is to showcase our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders this week.

I have to apologize for not doing a "Showcase Sunday" post in what seems like...forever. It's not that I haven't been receiving books, but simply that I've been too busy to sit down and compile this post, so here are all the books I've received/bought/borrowed in the past month! :)

For Review:
I was originally very excited to receive this one, but I haven't been hearing very good things about it, so I don't even know if I'll wind up reading this one after all, but we'll see. I do love that cover... ;)
I. Love. This. Book. I haven't read it yet, but it sounds so good! I mean, do you see that cover? That title? That synopsis? I can't wait to start this one, so hopefully it lives up to my expectations of it! :)

For Kindle:
I found these two for free on my Kindle a few weeks ago and figured I'd snag them, especially with all the raving reviews, so I hope I enjoy them! :)
I've actually already read Heart's Blood and I loved it! A definite must-read! (I believe my review will be up later this week!)
I've heard so much about this one, so I'm curious to see what all the hype is about. I hope I enjoy this one once I get around to it!
This has got to be one of the most fun, interesting, and addictive series I've read. I adored the first novel, the second wasn't bad, but this one is infinitely better. If you want something to put a smile on your face, this is definitely the series to read!
Dairy Queen & The Off Season (Dairy Queen, #1 & 2) by Catherine Gilbert Murdock
I started this series this past week and I'm loving it! I'm so glad I bought the second book on my Kindle too as I'm planning to dive into it right away! Sometimes, a good chick-flick is exactly what you need!
Enclave (Razorland, #1) by Ann Aguirre
Confession: I haven't read anything by Ann Aguirre. I have tons of her books on my TBR List, so I figured it was about time I actually read one of them and with Outpost already out, what could be a better choice? It was Maja from the Nocturnal Library who finally motivated me to pick this one up with her stellar review of this series and her recent interview with Ann Aguirre (not to mention her previous one with her as well) so thank you Maja! :)

Borrowed:

Yet another novel I've already read this month. I wasn't a huge fan of it, but this is a short, fun, and cute read for sure! (Once again, my review for this is going up this week!)
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
I loved the last two Stiefvater novels I picked up, but this one? Ehh, not so much. I still adore her writing style though and can't wait for her future releases! (You can read my review HERE.)
Stealing Parker by Miranda Kenneally
I loved Catching Jordan, but somehow, this book just didn't do it for me. (You can read my review HERE.)

Demon's Surrender by Sarah Rees Brennan
Unfortunately, this is my least favorite Brennan novel, but it was still an incredible read and a wholly satisfying conclusion to an epic trilogy. (You can read my review HERE.)
Vessel by Sarah Beth Durst
I've been seeing this book crop up everywhere, so I figured it was about time I saw what all the hype is about. I love the cover and the synopsis sounds very intriguing, so I think I'll enjoy this one.
Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan
I've been in the mood for some John Green lately, not to mention I'm curious to try out David Levithan's writing style, so I figured I could kill two birds with one stone with this one. I can't wait to start it - I've heard so many great things about it, so I'm sure it'll be excellent!

Bought:
For those of you who don't know, Quintana of Charyn only releases in America next year. Needless to say, I refused to wait and pre-ordered a shiny copy from Australia and while it has been sitting on my shelf for the past few weeks, I simply refuse to pick it up. I just don't want this to be my last Marchetta novel for a looong while! I'm more torn up over that than curious to see how this series ends, so it'll probably wait on my shelves indefinitely until I need an immediate fix out of a reading slump. Actually, who am I kidding? I won't be able to wait that long...I'm not ready to read this novel of perfection quite yet, but I'll definitely be reading it before the end of the year. It's going to be a masterpiece...I can just tell.

I was expecting a lot more books to arrive on my doorstep this week, but since they haven't, I'll take pictures and post a ton more books next week since I did buy...ermm...six (seven?) books this month! ;) I also, as many of you may have noticed, finally have a blog header! I don't know how I feel about it to be honest...I'm terrible with computer/graphic/design shtuff, so it's the best I could come up with. What do you think? I'll probably wind up changing it/playing around with it later this year, but for now, it is what it is. Anyway, sorry for such a long post! I'd love to see what you all snagged though, so leave me a link to your haul and I'll visit right away! :)

  2. I love the blog header, Keertana. I wouldn't even know where to begin at making it, so great job! You got so many wonderful books! I haven't read any of the reviews that have come through yet on Undeadly, that's disappointing, and the cover it so pretty, hope you like it. I got Quintana as well. I think I keep forgetting to put it in a Showcase Sunday. I have all three of the Dairy Queen series, and have heard great things I just need time to read it. Glad to hear you liked it too. The Ghost and the Goth is a series I've always wanted to read, but again with the time constraints! I actually loved Shiver, the writing was beautiful, and IMO she should've left off there. It ended just fine there to me. Awesome haul, Keertana!

Btw, I'm loving Barrons more and more everyday. He's sooo addictive! :)

  3. What a haul! I bet you like And All the Stars because it's an Aussie, I really hope it's as good as we hope!

And yay, Dairy Queen sounds so good, I need to read that series.

And shame about Nick McGowan, still looking forward to your review.

And aw, you should just read Quintana. It's so good that you won't mind that it's her last novel for a while!

  4. Oh gosh Keertana your blog haul is amazing! Where do I even begin! I adored Dairy Queen too, I think I may have to go on a splurge for the next two books too, it's always nice to fit in a light book in between. I've heard so many great things about The Year Nick McGowan Came to Stay and Lucid, both I've been meaning to pick up, I think I will just wait until your reviews to make up my mind! And I absolutely adore your blog header! And you did it all yourself? I'm terrible at graphics, so totally love yours! Hope you enjoy all your books hun! :)

  5. I've heard good things about Vessel, I really need to get it asap! I just had a quick look at the GoodReads summary for The Year Nick McGowan Came to Stay and omg it sounds so freakin' cute! -adds to wishlist-

Awesome books this week, Keertana! New follower. ^^

  6. I wasn't crazy about Undeadly :( It wasn't horrible - it just wasn't great. I gave it 3 stars I think. The main character was also just way too immature for my liking! Maybe you'll enjoy the book more though. :)

  7. I love the blog header! I noticed it the other day and have been meaning to say something. I goes really well with your background and whole theme. Awesome job! And girl, I totally understand the hesitation to read Quintana. I am still trying to understand that it's the last one she'll have out for a while. *cries* I have also been considering a lot of the books in this post, so I'm curious to see your reviews so I can decide if I want to check them out. Great post!

  8. Awesome haul Keertana :) !! Shiver is amazing but I didn't like the next 2 books in the series that much though .. I can't wait to read your reviews on all these books since I'm dying to read most of them. Happy reading ;)

  9. I was beyond excited for Undeadly Keertana, it promised one of the things I love most - an antagonistic relationship. I live for the relationships that start out more on the hate side of the spectrum and then slide ever so slowly toward the love side. Unfortunately, this book really didn't work at all for me on a couple different levels so that was hugely disappointing. *sigh* Really excited you're going to try Enclave though, I thoroughly enjoy that series!

  10. Holy crap! Look at that haul!

I am interested to see what you think about Enclave. I liked it...but I had some issues with it too.

I am hearing TERRIBLE things about Undeadly.

You got a new banner, didn't you? I like it!

    LUCID! Weeeeee!

I bought a copy of Dairy Queen long ago and still haven't read it. I suck.

I almost bought Vessel in my huge stack this week. But didn't.

Really great picks this week, Keertana!

  11. Aww, thank you for inluding the links, lovely! I'm so excited about you reading Outpost. I promise we'll still be friends, even if you hate it. :D
Lucid was such a strange book for me. The first 80% were more or less contemporary YA, and then it got really weird and the last part completely blew my mind. I ended up sobbing, you know. What an ending! Dairy Queen is also lovely. I tried Catching Jordan and didn't like it at all because I kept comparing it to Dairy Queen, which was so much better, IMO.
    Happy reading, darling!

  12. I am new to your blog, and can already I tell I am going to LOVE it because you said, heck no I'm not waiting until March, I'm ordering Quintana from Australia! I applaud you m'lady, for your excellent taste and savvy book buying skills. :-)

I cannot wait to read Quintana, but I am also scared that it's the END....

Also, so cool that you scored Wool for free! That's been on my kindle for awhile. I need to read it.

  13. I like the new blog header :)

Thanks for showcasing all your lovelies! Can't wait to read what you have to share on Vessel.

Have an awesome week and Happy Halloween!

  14. 1) I love your header!

    2) I didn't finish Dairy Queen. it didn't seem like my kind of book BUT if you review it and convince me to give it another try, I will!

    3) I haven't read Marchetta's fantasy and I've heard mixed things but I might give it a try!

    Great haul Keertana!

  16. GREAT list of books as usual! And I totally understand your thoughts on Quintana! MM is just a fantastic writer. I hope we get more of her fantasy world from other characters in the future! There are so many more stories to tell.

  18. Awesome books! I have so much to say about so many!

1st- of course- Quintana! Girl, I don't know how you can have that on your shelf and not be reading it, IT IS SO AMAZING. Go read it, really:)

I'm excited for And All the Stars too because YES, the cover, the synopsis, it all sounds amazing!

I loved Dairy Queen too. And I have a copy of The Off Season ready to be read too.

Will Grayson, Will Grayson: it's John Green, OF COURSE IT'S TOTALLY AMAZING. (No, my caps lock is totally working.) All I can say about that book can be summed up in 2 words. Tiny. Cooper. He STEALS the show.

And if you do like David Levithan may I suggest Dash and Lily's Book of Dares? My fave Levithan/ Cohn collaboration of the all.

I like you header, Keertana. I think it's way cool:)

  20. Holy cow, this post is so full of WIN that I barely know where to begin. :) Okay, first of all: Dairy Queen, yes! Thank you for joining Jasprit and I for our readalong, Keertana! It was such fun and I certainly enjoyed that book quite a bit. I'm really looking forward to diving into the sequel soon, too.
I simply can't wait to hear what you think of Vessel and Quintana of Charyn... The reviews for them both have been brilliant, especially for the latter (no kidding). I know you loved Heart's Blood so I look forward to seeing it featured on your pretty blog, and Lucid I'm quite on the fence about so I'll see what you think of it before I give it a go. I also have to read a John Green and David Levithan book, it's about time, don't you think? Anyhow, AMAZING haul Keertana, and enjoy your goodies dear! Good luck with getting the blog header to meet your expectations. :)

  21. This is one of, if not THE, most exciting book hauls I've ever seen. So many amazing books! I loved the Dairy Queen series. (well, 1 and 2, which I listened to) The narrator is amazing at sounding like a Wisconsin/Minnesota accented teen girl. I know you're reading them, but still worth mentioning. I hope you like And All the Stars. I love that the cover is so relevant to the story! (also that Wendy Darling and I convinced Andrea Host to write it:))I'm so curious about the Wool books--I hear amazing things about that series. I hope you love Quintana! (I am waiting on that one for pretty obvious reasons)

  22. Ok, first up? The new header is PRETTY! and second? Your haul is AMAZING! so, SO many amazing books, bur Keertana! OMG! Would you believe I have NEVER read a John Green book? I'm working on it. Promise :D

  23. I'm not sure where to start, you got do many good ones! I cant believe you ordered the next Lumatere book. I just got the 2nd from the library. I will probably die for this one once I finish.
I have heard Queen of Kentucky is awesome!

  24. Ohh, so much awesome :D Ahh. Quintana is perfect. <3 Hope you'll love it ;) And I did enjoy Enclave. Hope you'll love them all :D
