Summer Series Challenge!
I don't have the time to participate in many reading challenges throughout the year, but summer is my one free time. (Forgetting, of course, my internship and volunteering and what-not...) I have a ton of series I want to tackle, so I'm shooting for at least HALF of these to be completed. Or started. You know how it is.
Series I Want to Finish:
Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson, #7) by Patricia Briggs
Riveted (Iron Seas, #3) by Meljean Brook
Doublebind, Killbox, Aftermath, Endgame (Sirantha Jax #3-6) by Ann Aguirre
Child of the Prophecy, Heir to Sevenwaters, Seer of Sevenwaters, Flame of Sevenwaters (Sevenwaters, #3-6) by Juliet Marillier
The Chocolate Rose (Amour et Chocolat, #3) by Laura Florand
Series I Want to Start & Finish:
Griffin Mage Trilogy by Rachel Neumeir
Alanna Quartet by Tamora Pierce
Ashbury/Brookfield Series by Jaclyn Moriarty
Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson
Ultraviolet Duology by R. J. Anderson
Light Duology by Laura Whitcomb
Ship Breaker Duology by Paolo Bacigalupi
Series I Want to Start:
October Daye Series by Seanan McGuire
A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin
Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery
Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix
Jenna Fox Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson
Touchstone Trilogy by Andrea K. Host
Women of the Underworld Series by Kelley Armstrong
Monstrumologist Quartet by Rick Yancey
Maze Runner Series by James Dashner
Spiritwalker Trilogy by Kate Elliott
Wildwood Duology by Juliet Marillier
Fairyland Series by Catherynne M. Valente
Chaos Walking by Patrick Ness
Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss
It's quite evident that this is an ambitious list. I doubt I'll get to all of these, let alone half, but I want to try. I've mostly put duologies and trilogies up for myself and I know that the series and quartets up here are ones I am dying to get to. And regarding the series I want to start...I just want to start those. I'll hopefully finish those up eventually, but just a start seems good for now. It's also startling that I have so many books to read and this isn't even counting my ARCs or the stand-alones I am DYING to get to. Well, it's called summer for a reason, right? ;) What books are on your summer reading list this year? Even though mine is long, there is always room for more, so I'd love to hear what you're planning to read this summer - let me know in the comments below! :)
Fun Fact: It's my last day of school today, hence the reason summer starts for me only NOW. Exams = Over! :D

Oh man, I want to stay positive here. Okay, I know how to do it. The first step is for me to recognize that you are probably much more motivated and dedicated to your list than I was/am to my 110+ Books List (which I am currently revising). Secondly, do NOT start with the Mistborn books. I have been listening to them and I am about 40 minutes from finishing #3. K, I have LITERALLY spent more than three days of my life listening to that series, and I still have one more book to go! It is such a time suck. However, you do have a lot of exciting books on your list. I am excited for you to plow through the Alanna books, I think you'll like Abhorsen and Anne of Green Gables as well. I look forward to reviews for all of these. I'd put my bet on you finishing...10-12 of them. Let's see:) GOOD LUCK!!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, I have so many series that I need to finish and start and whatever but I really don't have time to join this challenge. Good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteI loved the Abhorsen Triology by Nix, so I hope you enjoy that one, Keertana. I think you'll like it! It makes me want to read it all over again, but there are that many books I haven't read, that I should probably read those first.
ReplyDeleteA Game of Thrones and the Chaos Walking series are two I want to read this summer too. I only have A Game of Thrones, but I have the whole Chaos Walking series and I have been meaning to read them for a long time.
There are probably tonnes of other books/series for me to read too which I probably can't think of at the moment. haha.
Enjoy your time off school now and being exam free! :)
I did this kind of reading challenge for myself during my first summer of blogging! It was an attempt to organize the way in which I could tackle my TBR mountain... and it failed spectacularly, haha. But don't listen to me: your list is MUCH more manageable than mine was. You might be able to make a big dent in it! I hope you enjoy the Kingkiller Chronicles so much because man, I want to have that book's babies.
ReplyDeleteThat is definitely an ambitious list Keertana, good luck! I know you'll make a massive dent in it:) I'm behind in the Sirantha Jax series but I loved the first one. And I'm a huge Ann Aguirre fan in general, so I need to get back to them. I just got distracted by Enclave, Outpost and now Horde:)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being done with exams! WOO HOO!
NO NO NO.
ReplyDeleteKeertana, you will not simply START the Chaos Walking trilogy. You must start AND finish it. Seriously, that's probably one of the most underrated series of all time. After you get used to the writing, all the books are gorgeous, especially the second one. I can feel my heart breaking just THINKING about those books.
But ahem, I'm really intereseted to see what you think about the Maze Runner. I read those books a while ago, and really enjoyed them (except for the last one- ugh). I also have the second Ship Breaker book sitting on my shelf, yet I haven't even picked up the first one from the library yet. I hope to get to that this summer too!
Ah-mazing list, Keertana (although the Chaos Walking trilogy must be moved to the top!). I can't believe you just finished school- I feel like I've been on summer vacation for forever. ;) Yay for summerrrr though! <3
Yes! Definitely start the Chaos Walking series! You will not regret it! I will be starting the Kingkiller Chronicles soon, and I am so excited. And I need to read A Game of Thrones too! The Abhorsen trilogy is amazing and so is the Alanna quartet and Monstrumologist quartet, well at least the three that are out but I'm sure the fourth won't disappoint! Good luck Keertana! So excited to read your thoughts! :D
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo! Congrats on finally having summer! :)
ReplyDeleteOh I don't even want to make a list of all the ones I would want to get to... I know I'd never win that challenge. Good luck!
KEERTANA. Congrats on finishing your most difficult year of high school!! NOW YOU GET TO READ ALLLLL OF THE BOOKS. And I trust that you can achieve your goal of at least half of those books, you read so fast! So many of the series that you want to finish are adult ones, which I personally need to start (Patricia Briggs and Ann Agguire)! OMG YOU NEED TO READ THE CHAOS WALKING TRILOGY. Please please please, put them up on the top of your pile, just for me? :) It's like my favorite series of all time. All. Time. ;) Okay, good luck! YOU GOT THIS GIRL.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your exams are finally over! I'd love to have a whole summer free for reading and blogging. Sounds like HEAVEN. Enjoy getting through your list! :)
ReplyDeleteYay! Grats on summer. I'm SO jealous. I miss the days when summer meant free time (even though I did always have jobs, it wasn't like this real adult crap). I literally have read, want to read, or am in the middle of all of these series. Every one. Clearly you have excellent taste. :P
ReplyDeleteI'm listening to The Monstrumologist atm and it's fantastic! I just made myself a list of 10 books I want to read before August and I'm already worried about getting them done.
Excited to see where you get with these!
I love your ambition! It is inspirational. So few of these have I read, but I'm with you in needing to finish the Sevenwaters series. I also have the last Chaos Walking book in hand. I'm very curious how you react to those books. Hope you LOVE them. I really like that you put duologies on this list. Those are becoming more and more appealing to me. I've read Ultraviolet, but not it's sequel. Can't wait to follow you on your summer reading. Also, CONGRATS on finishing school for the year!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, it is quite ambitious but it is all fun so woo! I'm excited that you're reading the Spiritwalker series by Kate Elliott. It's fantastic - well, I thought so. Very swoony and intelligent. Which is always appreciated.
ReplyDeleteAmbitious would definitely be the word I'd use to describe your list, Keertana! And also amazing. Many of these series I've already read and loved (The Song of the Lioness quartet, A Game of Thrones, Abhorsen trilogy!!) and many are series I also really need to start (Kingkiller Chronicles, Chaos Walking trilogy, Monstrumologist series, Mistborn trilogy). I really hope you're able to make some good leeway with this list. Good luck, Keertana! :)
ReplyDeleteoh, man. you are so inspiring, lol. this is so ambitious and i really hope you find some good series! (i hardly ever read series, so i didnt even realise how many were out there!)
ReplyDeletego the jaclyn moriarty (fun!) and i am curious what you will think of anne of GG (if all else fails, the movies with megan follows are just gorgeous) ;)
