It's one of my favorite duologies - I hope you'll be able to pick up the second book soon enough. :) I found Gretchen's journey so realistic and moving; I was worried I wouldn't be able to relate to her in the beginning, but from the first page I liked her voice and who she was. Daniel is an amazing love interest, and we get to learn even more about him and his family in Conspiracy.

Lovely review, lady!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06307895303115762938noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3523300192245025551.post-78805538391695659352015-04-22T15:34:16.939-04:002015-04-22T15:34:16.939-04:00I bought this soon after it was released, but I st...I bought this soon after it was released, but I still need to read it. I'm glad you liked it more than you thought you would. I like books set in this time period, and it's cool that it starts when Hitler is still seen as a relatively "good guy."

-LaurenShooting Stars Maghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16074581473656321052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3523300192245025551.post-25282884295425618902015-04-20T18:42:43.321-04:002015-04-20T18:42:43.321-04:00It's funny because I just moved this one up my...It's funny because I just moved this one up my mental TBR recently so seeing you enjoy this novel has definitely added to my excitement about reading the novel.

I am a little worried about how I'll feel about Gretchen at first, especially since she seems on the naive side, but so long as she develops, I am sure I can get behind her and cheer her on! :D

I am also very excited to meet this Daniel you speak of ;) A swoonworthy interest is never a drawback :D

I am so glad to see you were able to enjoy the novel, Keertana, even if it wasn't perfect! :)

Lovely review, hon!! :)

Rashika @ The Social Potato
Rashika https://www.blogger.com/profile/03823262638606052465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3523300192245025551.post-54890838922341988912015-04-20T07:06:48.629-04:002015-04-20T07:06:48.629-04:00I'm glad that you finally ended up giving this...I'm glad that you finally ended up giving this book a go Keertana, over the last few months, this series has certainly found a special place inn my heart. I felt that Gretchen's voice was young with good reason. She grew up sheltered in a weird way, and encuraged to stay young and childish and never to think for herself. So I thought that her voice reflected her upbringing and was delighted to see her break away from it. I hope you'll get a chance to read the second part soon.Maja (The Nocturnal Library)https://www.blogger.com/profile/14276646316400863181noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3523300192245025551.post-79410469265001185912015-04-19T20:01:42.458-04:002015-04-19T20:01:42.458-04:00Wonderful review, Keertana!Wonderful review, Keertana!Kseniahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05362452522963234123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3523300192245025551.post-34202706657697028772015-04-19T17:46:59.399-04:002015-04-19T17:46:59.399-04:00I completely agree with everything you've said...I completely agree with everything you've said here Keertana.

Like you said, Hitler was so well-developed in this. It was morbidly fascinating seeing all these different sides to him; as we're all used to hearing about what a horrible man he is and how he started this horrible genocide; but Blankman really takes it farther and shows us the charming, politician side of him; the loving uncle; and the psychopathic side of him.

Thanks for sharing and, as always, fantastic review! ♥Zoe N.https://www.blogger.com/profile/08980248647201093593noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3523300192245025551.post-57181625311584945462015-04-19T13:50:06.993-04:002015-04-19T13:50:06.993-04:00I remember picking up my ARC for this book and I c...I remember picking up my ARC for this book and I couldn't get into it, but I pretty much love all stories involving WW2. I think I'll have to pick it back up! That's so cool that Blankman revealed facts to you that you didn't know about. And Gretchen and Daniel see like fantastic characters! Looks like the romance was well done, too. I couldn't really follow through on it which I hated but I guess not every book if for everyone. But I'm glad you found something more towards the end of the book. I guess you hit the nail on the head when you say she seemed a bit younger than her real age. I still think I'm going to give it another go, but perhaps I still need a bit more conviction.
